I was in Cuba last April. All of the cars I saw are shitboxes, except there's a few new Audis somehow. Every car I rode in had 4 blown shocks, there was no exception.

People in the U.S. seem to want the government to do everything for them. "Oh there should be a law against that" or "the government should stop that". On the opposite side, republicans are all corporation payrolled 1%-ers who want nothing but to widen the gap between the rich and the poor.

The occupant of the White House is socialist, not just a Bill Clinton-type big-government liberal, but a real-live, thinks it's okay to steal your money and give it to others, socialist. With ObammyCare he has law that allows the government to dictate to you and me what we can do with every aspect of our lives. Receive a government subsidy on your healthcare (which all but those who can pay out-of-pocket will very soon)? The government now owns you and can tell you what you can eat, drink and do. And look at how many changes he has made to ObammyCare recently just by waving his magic wand! Since when can the President change law enacted by Congress? He thinks he's a dictator and no one is stopping him!
New York City just elected a communist as mayor. Did you watch any of his inauguration? The things said were insane. It is truly frightening to me that the largest city in the country would elect someone that crazy.

I'm no fan of the Republican party and view them only as the lesser of two evils, butt to play devils advocate with you I must pose a question. Lets say you make 50k a year and your neighbor makes 500k. Republicans run the federal government and under them the economy improves and your income goes up to 75k, but your neighbors goes up to 750k. How is that a problem for you? Your wealth has improved, you can provide for your family better then before, but the "income gap has widened". So?
There's truth to the phrase "a rising tide raises all ships".

I haven't been following the NY mayor news or Obamacare very closely.
I was thinking about something today. I don't think politics are the problem - education is.
Too many citizens don't really understand the differences between communism, socialism, capitalism, etc. They're just buzzwords to too many people.
High school students should get at least a basic understanding of economics in order to graduate. Econ was so easy to me in HS yet so many students didn't fully comprehend what the teacher was saying. I went on to major in Bus Econ in college so I got even more background.
A basic understanding of economics is required for people to understand what their politicians are doing. But too many people have no understanding of econ and no interest to learn.
